Welcome to our wedding!! Thank you so much for choosing to share this special day with us. For those of you who may only know one of us, or know us through our beloved families, here is a little about ourselves:

Jane is the owner of a much-loved ceramic studio in the heart of downtown Calgary. John is a vegan chef who (before meeting Jane!) spent a lot of his free time leading weekend adventure tours around southern Ontario. Together, we have been exploring our shared passions for outdoor travel, good food and Celtic rock music for almost 7 years! We have recently bought our first home - a funky duplex in Kensington - with a back yard big enough for  the latest addition to our family...no, don't get too excited, it's just our 4 month-old yellow lab, Kelsey! ;)

In April 2002, our good friend Elaine (at the time, just Jane's friend) had a dinner party at her house. Her boyfriend asked John, who was visiting from Ontario, to come along with him. John brought some fabulous appetizers that he made himself and charmed everyone at the party with hilarious stories from the restaurant he'd just started working at. Jane had to fight off at least two other single women for his number at the end of the night! (John swears that it wasn't even a close contest...)

We went out for dinner, then to a rock festival the following week (where we discovered our shared love of music), and by the time we went on our third date (bowling) we were both hooked. After 11 months of dating long-distance, John  moved out West and we got our first apartment together. Jane saved up enough to open up her pottery studio in 2004 (thanks to all the support from wonderful family and friends!), and John got a great chef's job as soon as he arrived in Calgary. The rest is history!

On August 12, 2009 we took a trip to Vancouver so that John could source out some ingredients for the restaurant. As a big surprise,  he also arranged dinner on a private yacht for us that evening. After saving up every penny for the house over the last couple years, it was a huge luxury (I was pretty shocked at first!). The meal was perfect, we drank champagne with dessert under the stars, and John pulled out a beautiful ring and asked that beautiful question. Of course, the answer was yes...and it's now an evening we will remember for the rest of our lives... :)

We are thrilled and honored to have some very special people actively taking part in this day with us. Our loving parents, Irma and Robert Smith and Clayton Doe have been invaluable in planning this day and lending many helping hands. Jane's Maid of Honor is Susannah Dayton, her best friend of 14 years. The Best Man (especially according to him! ;) is Kenny Gordon, who will be flying in all the way from Ontario to be with us. In addition, we have Jenn Prost, Alexa Stoddart and Maya Wilson as our lovely Bridesmaids. Our gallant Groomsmen will be Kirk Hodges, Eric Farand and Enrique Dosso.
